I would suggest looking at log homes in your local area. Don't be afraid to ask a log home owner for a tour. If you see something you like ask the owner who made or manufactured their home and what their experiences were. I would strongly recommend going with a company that has a dealers office close buy.

The best way to get your hands on the latest copy of the The Log Home Living Annual Buyer's Guide. This is chock full of useful articles and list numerous seminars and hands-on workshops for the brave. Margaret and I attended one these seminars in 1990 and it not only provided us with loads of practical information but motiviated us to build our own log home.

Finally, books and magazines are your best resource. Here are some that I have used and recommend:

Log Home Links
When I started this web site in 1995 there was very little log home info on the web. That has dramatically changed in recent years. I continously get requests and sometimes demands that I include somebody's acme.log.com on my list of log home links. This became a tremendous amount of work. I toyed with the idea of charging advertising fees but I want to keep this site advertisement free. In the end I decided to no longer post a list log home sites on CabinFever but you can find lots of log home related web sites through the log home magazine links above.
