Well, we had to put something on top of all that fill?

August 1, 1996

The deck and screened in porch was really scheduled to be completed next summer. However, our builder told us he would have a lot of difficulty putting on the logs at the uppers levels in back of the house since his ladders didn't reach 30ft. The deck in back will give them a place to put their ladders and make it easier to spike in those logs at the upper levels.

Since we had to build the deck anyway it just made sense to complete the screened in porch in back and tie it into the roof now rather then tear the roof apart next year. We also opted for inexpensive, about $100.00 apiece, single pane double hung windows with screens in the porch. That will make it a three season room and be safer with the kids then just ordinary screening with a railing.

The down side is this will add somewhere between $5000 - $7000 to the house. Oh well, just doing my part to increase the national debt!
