Concrete Foundation.
May 21, 1996
The rain on Monday caused yet another delay, but the weather cleared enough for CWI to pour the concrete walls. The photo above is a view towards the front of the house, looking at the garage. The back wall of the garage is 8ft. high and will have to be filled with limestone to the top of the pillar in the center of the garage.
Again the steep slope is going to result in a lot of gravel fill inside the foundation before we can begin the flatwork. I estimate about 200tons of fill. I had built some costs into my budget for fill, but this is about three times what I had anticipated.
Because the ground was too muddy for the concrete mixer , CWI had to use a pumping truck to pump the concrete from the mixing truck to the forms. After they were finished pouring, the pumping truck got stuck and they had to yank it out with the cement truck. Quit a sight!
The back of the house looks less massive then it did when it was formed up. I think the window and door buck-outs helped.
I know my son is in a lot of these pictures but he does
provide some scale. He is 3' 6" tall.
