Walls are us.
May 17, 1996
Concrete Walls, Inc. (CWI) started to put up forms for the walls. I had asked if he could use forms that had a brick texture, but he didn't have any. I assumed these were standard with residential construction but apparently not. Another lesson learned about this business; assume nothing! Margaret and I discussed this surprise and decided to go with the smooth walls since we would like to face the foundation walls with fieldstone someday anyway.
Because of the steep slope, the back wall ended up being 12 feet high and our walkout in back is 4ft. above ground level. Obviously we will need to do some serious landscaping in back of the house.
CWI built wolmanized wooden frames, called wood bucks, and places them between the metal forms. These will provide the openings for our doors and windows.
CWI plans to finish the forms by next Monday and start pouring concrete.
