Concrete Footers Poured

Much to my surprise, the concrete contractor has found a window in his busy schedule and rainy weather to pour the concrete footings. The footers are staggered onto three terraces to accommodate the steep slope. Even though we have a walk out basement foundation, the walls will be staggered 4ft, 8ft. and 12ft. in the back of the house. This means we will have to use a lot more fill to create a level surface for the concrete flatwork then I had originally anticipated. I'm not happy about spending several thousand dollars on crushed lime waste but I don't really have any other options at this time. This is probably just a taste of many more unpleasant surprises that will crop up over the life of this project. It helps not to dwell on these things not to much.
