Yeah, we finally break ground.

May 3, 1996

Our excavator, Chris Handley, started clearing the driveway and ripping up stumps. Chris started at 3:00pm and by 6:00pm he had all the stumps torn out. Fast work. Its interesting to see him dig out the stumps and then shake them in the bucket to get all the dirt off them before placing them in a pile. Although we did not have very large trees, we had enough stumps to fill up 4 dump truck loads.

My 3 year old son, Ian loves big machinery and we had a hard time getting him home. It was even raining but he was just fascinated watching the excavator. Guess he has career figured out already. For those of you that love big iron, check out the Caterpiller Home Page.

At this rate we should be pouring concrete next week.
