Finally sold the old house, but we had to be creative to do it!

September 29, 1996

    After being on the market for six months we still had not sold our old home, and since the contract with our realtor expired we decided to try and sell the house on our own. We got this book on "How to Sell Your Home in 5 days". I know, this sounds a lot like Hawaii on $5.00 a day but we had nothing to lose. By November we had sold the old house and made some money, not as much as we liked, but it was a depressed market. Finally selling the old house was a tremendous load off our minds, but the buyers wanted rapid possession. On November 16th we moved into the basement of our log home. We had one toilet, a shower, a sink in the laundry room, a microwave and a crock pot... life was good. At least the kids thought it was a great adventure.
